On Scale Webinar Recordings

November 17th, 2011

Recently I gave two webinars on how we handle scale at AppNexus.

Recording of these webinars are now available online! Enjoy: Part I and Part II.

I’d love to hear feedback. What do people agree/disagree with? What are things I didn’t cover you’re curious about?

    Mike,

The scale webinars are very informative, revealing and entertaining listen.   You say it like you think it, and I like that.

You have been very generous exposing much of your hard earned lessons and components chosen.

The lessons show that in many cases, complex and expensive black boxes are destined to fail when pushed to new limits by systems such as yours that require very high TPS rates.   It’s no wonder you guys can literally melt those crappy load balancers.

The KISS principle ends up winning again, being relatively cheap as well as very robust and stable.  It’s easier to scale with simple components that do their job very well, and are very robust and predictable due to their simplicity.
